Solan is situated at the Shivalik range’s foothills. It is a charming little hill town located 50 km from Shimla, known for its natural beauty.

Solan is mainly a forest surrounded by hills and mountains. The hill station mainly serves as a gateway to other popular hill stations like Kasauli, Kalka, and Chail. It is situated at an altitude of about 1467 meters above sea level.

The name Solan comes from Shoolini Devi, the patron goddess of the region. The mountains near Solan have interesting trekking streams and various types of fish games. Mushroom cultivation is also done here on a large scale here.

Solan also has one of the oldest breweries – Mohan Meakin’s Brewery, which was established in 1855.

Solan is also famous for being where the Irish rebellion of 1920 against the British army took place.

Irish soldiers revolted after a similar sentiment returned home. However, the British were crushed by the killing of two Irish soldiers.

1. Karol Tibba

It is designed to calm the inner soul of the people. The Karol Tibba Trek is a short, easy, 11-kilometer trek, starting from Chambaghat, which forms a veritable backdrop for the small village of Basal, and reaches the peak.

Continue till the temple of Goddess Kali, situated at the top. Karol Tibba is a deep, dense forest and a fascinating cave.

The trail of this trek represents a perfect blend of different terrains. It is followed by beautiful meadows and ends with paths in the middle of a forest.
